Tiago Melo Alves participated in Rádio Observador's ‘Justiça Cega’ (Blind Justice) programme and, in a conversation with journalist Luís Rosa commented on the rape of a minor in Loures.
A 16-year-old girl was raped by three boys aged between 17 and 19 in February in Loures. The suspects were arrested on 24 March after several videos of the rape were posted on a social media network. However, following a motion by the Public Prosecutor's Office and a decision by the Criminal Investigation Judge, they were released.
They have been indicted for 51 offences, including rape, kidnapping and child pornography. Many citizens were outraged and there is even a petition with more than 7,000 signatures. This is an issue that has marked public opinion in recent days.
