23 January 2024 Melo Alves appoints Jorge Chang as a new partner

 Melo Alves has appointed Jorge Chang as a partner, in a clear commitment to the international dimension and the dynamization of the Asian Desk.

Jorge Chang, until now Of Counsel at Melo Alves, joins partners Carlos Melo Alves, Tiago Melo Alves, and Bruno Melo Alves. The new partner has a law degree from Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon and dual nationality (Portuguese and Chinese) and is the coordinator of Melo Alves' Asian Desk.

 Jorge Chang has extensive experience in advising on immigration & nationality and property issues in Portugal and in accompanying Portuguese investors on the Asian continent.
The Asian Desk represents Asian clients in Portugal and advises Portuguese clients on their investments in China and the rest of Asia, collaborating with local law firms. Asian clients have access to legal services in various sectors and areas of law in Portugal and Angola. The firm has a team of Portuguese Chinese lawyers who bridge the gap and assist Portuguese and Asian investors, with the support of the whole Melo Alves team in Asia and Portuguese-speaking countries.
